Introducing the new Mobile Link skill for Alexa

Mobile Link is pleased to announce the new Mobile Link skill, now available through the Amazon Alexa app.  The Mobile Link skill for Alexa connects you directly to your generator using just your voice! Just ask Alexa, to receive up to the minute generator status, ensuring you and your family are protected in the event a power outage. Should you require generator maintenance or service, you can even ask for your dealer contact information, enabling you to receive prompt assistance.  Access this and more simply by connecting your generator to the internet through Wi-Fi or 4G LTE, creating a Mobile Link account, and enabling the Mobile Link skill for Alexa.

How do I Get Started?

To get started simply complete the following steps:

1. Connect your generator to Wi-Fi using the Mobile Link Setup app (or connect via 4G LTE)

2. Create a Mobile Link account, add your generator, and select a Mobile Link plan (free or paid)

3. Open the Amazon Alexa app on your smart device or computer

4. Tap the “More” menu, select “Skills & Games”

5. Enter in the search bar “Mobile Link” and press “Enable to Use”

6. Sign in to your Mobile Link account

What Can I Ask Alexa About my Generator?

When you’ve successfully added the Mobile Link skill to the Alexa app, simply ask Alexa one of the following questions:

• “Alexa, ask Mobile Link if I’m ready for a power outage”
  • Alexa will return the current status of your generator (ready to run, warning, fault, exercising, or disconnected from the internet)

• “Alexa, ask Mobile Link who is my dealer?”
  • Alexa will ask if you want to know the name, address, or phone number of the dealer that is associated to the customer’s account 

• “Alexa, ask Mobile Link what is the weather near my generator.”
  • Alexa will use the generator’s location to check for severe weather alerts and get the current weather information.

• “Alexa, ask Mobile Link help”
  • Say this for status, this for weather, and this for dealer

Other Notes

• In order to use the Mobile Link skill, users must have a Mobile Link account with a connected Wi-Fi, Ethernet or 4G LTE connected generator on a free or paid subscription
• Compatible with any Generac, Honeywell, Eaton or Siemens air-cooled or liquid-cooled home standby generator up to 150kW, 2010 or newer
